Proposed Bylaw change:
The board proposes making a change to the bylaws, as follows:
Bylaw XII-I, as it currently stands:
“A member family in good standing that wishes to resign from the Corporation shall inform the Administrative manager in writing of this decision. The Board of Directors shall authorize payments to resigning members at no less than eighty per cent of the current initiation fee less any indebtedness to the Corporation.”
Proposed change:
“A member family in good standing that wishes to resign from the Corporation shall inform the Administrative manager in writing of this decision. As a partial refund of their initiation fee, the Board of Directors shall authorize payments to resigning members who were members as of 10/24/2007 at $720 less any indebtedness to the Corporation. Members who join the Association after 10/24/2007 shall not receive any refund of their initiation fee.”
Rationale:
The board proposes making a change to this bylaw to help build a capital fund to make the required large repairs to the pool necessary to maintain our 52-year old pool. This proposal would mean that new pool members would not get their initiation fee returned when they resign. Existing members would receive $720 upon their resignation (less any indebtedness), which is equivalent to 80 percent of the 2007 initiation fee of $900.
