Volunteer Jobs
Here’s a sampling of ways parents support the team.
- Automation: Run the computer program at each swim meet, keep a running account of the swimmers’ times, and much more. [Nancy Platt and Eric Smith]
- Banquet Committee: Responsible for planning/executing the annual swim/dive team banquet.
- Divisional Meet Coordinator: Work with Team Reps to plan the Divisional home meet. Need parking plan, team area designations, spectator seating, notifications to property abutters, etc.
- Sharx Mommas: Coordinate team social and spirit activities. (Bingo, Karaoke, Potlucks, etc.) [Coordinator—Jody Gan] Also need more event organizers!
- Officials: These include referees, starters, stroke and turn judges, head timer, timers, clerk of course, announcer, runners and ribbon writers. Certification (offered free by MCSL) required for Refs, Starters and S&T judges. We will help you learn the other jobs. Something for everyone!
- Meet Set up/Clean up: Responsible for setting up chairs for spectators, roping-off areas for teams, setting up lane numbers, setting up the clerk of course table and benches, the scorers’ tables, backstroke flags, starter machine, and the swimmers’ tent, if needed, before each home meet. After the meet, makes sure that everything is put away and cleaned up. All parents and swimmers are expected to help with clean up. [Coordinator Needed]
- Photography: Take photographs throughout the season and provide photographs to create an end of season slide show for the Banquet. [Michael Gan]
- Preteam Coordinator: Prepare a list of all Preteam members. Ensure that all are registered. Provide awards person with a list of all preteam members. Plan a simple celebration for preteamers at the final B meet (piñata or goodie bags, photo op, etc.). [Coordinator Needed]
- Sharx Bite Cafe: Run the snack bar concession at all home meets. Shop for food & supplies, coordinate donations and staff with volunteers. [B Meets: Eden Durbin, Marilyn Emery, Carrie Smith; A Meets: Linda Maher, Lucy Harvey]
- Shark Wear: Responsible for ordering, and selling NCC Sharx apparel, goggles, caps, etc.. [Ruth Silverstein and Jody Gan]
- Six Flags Coordinator: Publicize Six Flags Day to team. Collect money. Pick up tickets from MCSL rep. and distribute to NCC participants. [Coordinator Needed]
- Team Reps: Responsible for overseeing all meets, team registration, communicating with parents. Attend MCSL meetings and NCC Board Meetings. Work with Team Reps from other teams to organize and run meets. [Libby Williams, Donna Ruginski, Maggie Sisti]
- Trophies and Awards: Order trophies. Deliver awards to the Banquet. [Caroline DuPont]
