2007 DOUBLES LEAGUE AND SINGLES CHAMPIONSHIPS
DOUBLES LEAGUE:
All NCCSPA tennis enthusiasts are invited to join in on this Doubles Tennis League which is designed to arrange doubles game in a non-competitive atmosphere where you do not have to do any of the organizing! There is a minimum number of players needed to hold each league and the more players who register, more levels can be accommodated and placed in appropriate pairing with players of similar levels. This league is suited for ALL levels!
LEAGUE I: May 13th – July 5th (Deadline to register – May 6th)
LEAGUE II: July 15th – September 20th (Deadline to register – July 8th)
DAYS and TIMES: Mondays 7:00pm, Wednesdays 9:30am, Thursdays 7:00pm, Sundays 11:00am
How do I register?
ALL players (regular or substitutes) must fully complete the registration form and mail it by the deadline date (Sunday, May 6th). Only circle the dates you are UNABLE to play. You can register for one, two, three or all four days. OR be a sub for all OR be a sub for a day and on the schedule for other day(s). You pick!
What if something comes up and I cannot play when scheduled?
There will be a list of substitutes. Also, those with a blank box are available to play, but not scheduled for that date. Do NOT contact Betsy to assist in getting a sub for you. Please notify the other players whom you have gotten to substitute so they know who to contact when necessary. If on more than two occasions a player fails to appear or does not find a sub from the list of players, he/she will be unable to participate in the league 2.
Who supplies the balls?
For each match, there will be a CAPTAIN. This captain will be responsible to bring a new can of balls, contact the other 3 players several days ahead to remind them they are scheduled to play, and to notify all if match is cancelled due to wet conditions. The Captain also needs to cancel the court if necessary.
Is there a fee?
The registration fee is $20.00 for League 1 OR League 2 OR $30.00 for both Leagues. This covers each eight/nine week league, regardless if you register for one, two, three or all four league days. Subs must also pay this fee. There will be no refund or credit once the schedule has been made. You may register for as many days/dates as you like. Fee must be enclosed with the registration form and payable to Betsy Heidenberger.
How do I know when I am scheduled to play?
Several days after the deadline, the schedule will be made. Participants will receive their schedule via e mail and can also be picked up at the tennis courts. For each league, there will be a chart of names and dates. Each box next to your name will be P, C, X or A. You are scheduled to Play, you are the Captain, X not available, Available, but not on schedule to play.
Is this Mixed? Ladies or Men’s Doubles? By level?
Foursomes will be different every week, based on who is available. Some days mixed, mens, ladies doubles and could even be three 3 men and one lucky lady! Players will be grouped according to level and every effort will be made to place players with different foursomes for each week. Thus, the more players that register, easier it is to group all accordingly with new players of appropriate levels.
How do I know which court? Who will be my partner?
The schedule will have your court number. i.e. P2 (NCCSPA) – Play on court #2 at NCCSPA. You select whom to play with on your own and if all prefer, switch around…or stay with the same partner – up to your group!
How long do we play for? Do we report the scores?
The courts will have been reserved for two hours. Be prepared to stay for at least two sets. In fairness to fellow players, please appear on time for your match. You can leave the results to yourselves – the purpose of this league is to have a fun doubles game with new partners!
What if I miss the deadline date?
Once the schedule has been made and delivered, players cannot join this league. Sorry! League 2 deadline is July 8th.

ADULT AND JUNIOR MENS & LADIES’ SINGLES CLUB CHAMPIONSHIPS
June 1st – September 9th
The Singles Club Championships will run over the summer months. The goal is to accommodate singles players of all levels and you can play based on your schedule!
- There will be three championship draws – advanced beginner/low intermediate( C ) , intermediate (B) and advanced players (A).
- Deadline to complete each round will be posted on the draw sheets by the courts. If a match is not played by the deadline, a coin flip will advance players to the next round and loser will go to the consolation draw.
- All players are asked to rate themselves using the rating sheet. Please rate yourself as accurately as possible.
- Players are responsible for contacting opponent, arrange among themselves their own match days and times, reserve the court and report results to Betsy or on draw sheets posted at the courts.
- How matches are played will be decided prior to warm-up among players – two sets, regular scoring and should there be a split in sets, a 12-point tiebreaker will be played to determine the winner. Or players may play a 10-game pro set.
- Each player brings a new can of balls and the winner keeps the new can. At the end of each match, report your results to Betsy and both winners and losers will have a new opponent – so be sure to check your next match deadline and opponent’s contact information.
- There is a consolation tournament, thus all players will be guaranteed two matches.
- If players missed the deadline to register, you may enter the consolation draw.
- Deadlines to complete next match must be met. There will be NO exceptions for vacations, injury, business, etc. Matches will have a two to three week time frame to be played. Thus please do not enter if you are unavailable for more than a three week time period. Any extensions unfairly limit available playing days for next round opponents.
- There is a one time fee of $10.00, which is non refundable once the draw has been made. Prizes will be given to the champion of each Championship in September.
- A minimum of 4 players are required to have an event.
- Participants are required to complete registration form and mail fee by the deadline date of May 28th.
