Bob Finney

Bob has been teaching full time since 1978 and has had many types of tennis jobs to include country club head and asst. pro, club manager and maintenance of courts. For 10 years Bob ran the tennis program at Bethesda YMCA and simultaneously has coached local high school and college teams. Bob presently coaches the men’s and women’s teams at Montgomery College. During off team season, Bob teaches clinics indoors in Bethesda and children’s clinics at Bethesda Country Club. Bob has also directs and teaches the summer tennis camp at Stone Ridge School.

Bob continues to play competitively and recently was a member of the 50 and older intersectional mid-atlantic team. Bob also plays on a 4.5 men’s and 4.0 senior mixed doubles teams, both of which regularly go to nationals. Bob has been ranked in Maryland and the Mid-Atlantic region over the years as high as #1 in Maryland.
Bob has been awarded over 20 coach of the year awards including 2 national college coach of the year and 2 USPTA mid-Atlantic college coach of the year awards.

Bob lives is D.C. with his wife, Nancy and two sons 13 and 10 years old.

Bob enjoys teaching tennis to both adults and children/teens. Bob brings fun into learning skills of strokes, spins and strategies for both singles and doubles.

Bob is excited to meet our club members and have the opportunity to teach classes, semi-privates, and/or private lessons.
