Doubles League II - July 27th - September 20th

REGISTRATION DEADLINE: July 10th

All players must register. Returning players do not need to complete form - just inform Betsy with your details. New players MUST complete attached registration form.  All payments must be given to Betsy by July 27 by mail or left at pool desk.

The purpose of this Doubles League is to offer a pre-arranged doubles game with new players of similar levels each week. Players choose which day(s) to play, select which weeks not available and then the schedule will be made! Then just show up and play! A great way to meet new players and have a weekly game set up for you!  There will be a limit in number accepted – all interested players are urged to register before the quota is reached.

DAYS and TIMES:

Mondays 7:00 pm
Wednesdays 9:00 am, 10:30 am
Thursdays 7:00 pm
Sundays 9:00, 10:30 am, 11:00 am
(due to court limitations on Wednesday and Sundays, players will be rotated on various start times)

How do I register?

ALL players (regular or substitutes) must complete registration form and return to Betsy by the deadline date (Friday, July 10th) Only circle the dates you are UNABLE to play. You may register for one, two, three or all four days. OR be a sub for all four days OR be a sub for a day and on the schedule for other day(s). You pick based on your schedule!

What if something comes up and I cannot play when scheduled?

There will be a list of substitutes and also those with an A in their box are available to play.  Do NOT call Betsy to assist in getting a sub for you.  In fairness to fellow players who have paid and registered, only registered players are allowed to sub. Any non-registered player who does play, must then register, he/she be added to the sub list and must pay the league sub registration fee of $10.00/$15.00. If you have gotten a sub, notify your Captain.

What is the responsibility of the Captain?

For each match, there will be a CAPTAIN. This captain will be responsible to contact the other 3 players at least three days ahead to remind them they are scheduled to play and to notify all if match is cancelled due to wet conditions. Thus on questionable days, he/she needs to make the decision in advance if the courts are playable.  The captain will also provide a new can of balls.  Should the match be cancelled for any reason besides rain, please cancel the court.

Is there a fee?

The cost to be a regular for each league day registered (i.e. Mondays)  for League I is $15.00 for club members and $20.00 for non-members( if space permits). To register as a sub, the fee is $10.00 for members and $15.00 for guests for each league day. i.e. Player registered to be a regular on Monday evening and a sub on Sunday – members will pay a total of  $25.00 ($15.00 + $10.00) , non-members will pay $35.00 ($20.00 + $10.00). There will be no refund or credit after the deadline date.

How do I know when and where I am scheduled to play?

Several days after the deadline, the schedule will be made. Participants will receive their schedule via e mail.  For each league, there will be a chart of names and dates. Each box next to your name will be P, C, X or A.  You are scheduled to Play, you are the Captain, X not available and Available means you are not scheduled but available to play.

Is this Mixed? Ladies or Men’s Doubles? By level?

Foursomes will be different every week, based on who is available. Some days you will play in a mixed group or with fellow ladies/men. Players will be grouped according to level and every effort will be made to place players with different foursomes for each week. Thus, the more players that register, easier it is to group all accordingly with new players of appropriate levels.

How do I know which court? Who will be my partner?

The number next to your letter will signify which group and which court.  P1 – play on court #1,  CP2 – Captain of court #2.  Once on the court, you select whom will partner with whom, switch partners after each set, or stay with the same partner – up to you.  Aim is to have all play a nice match! Non members will be  scheduled either at CCRA courts or  North Chevy Chase courts.

How long do we play for? Do we report the scores?

The courts have been reserved for two hours.  Be prepared to stay for at least two sets.  In fairness to fellow players, please appear on time for your matches. The purpose of this league is to have a fun doubles game with new partners – results not important!

What if I miss the deadline date?

Once the schedule has been made and delivered, players cannot join this league as a regular. However, one may join as a substitute, complete form and pay the necessary substitute fee.
