Social Events at the Pool

The pool’s social committee is very excited to roll out a great summer line-up of activities.  All pool events are volunteer-driven and can’t happen without someone stepping up to the plate.  Please see where a coordinator is needed, and volunteer by contacting Jody Gan at:  jodygan@gmail.com

Opening Day Barbecue: Saturday, May 25th 12:00 noon – Celebrate the opening of the pool and the arrival of summer at lunchtime BBQ. Get hamburgers, hot dogs or veggie burgers fresh off the grill while you greet old and new friends and kick off another wonderful summer season! It starts at noon and goes until the food runs out!

School’s Out Italian Pasta Potluck:  Friday, June 14th 6:30pm

Badda bing! Help us mark the real beginning of summer by celebrating the last day of MCPS with a pool-wide Italian pasta potluck dinner. Last names A-0 bring an Italian style main dish to serve 8-10; P-Z bring a lot of dessert to share!  Salad, bread, drinks and paper goods will be provided by the pool.  Event organizer needed!

Father’s Day FUN: Sunday, June 16th at 2pm (time tentative)

Young and old can spend some special time with dad or granddad at the pool today! This is a favorite activity of our younger crowd and, in the past, has included a magic show and popsicles. Event organizer needed!

Family Movie Night: Saturday, June 22nd at 7:30pm

NEW this year!! Join us for a family friendly movie in the pavilion. A great suggestion from our member survey! Event organizer needed!

Adult Trivia Night #1: Saturday, June 29th at 7:30pm

BACK BY POPULAR DEMAND!  Show up with your own 5-6 person trivia team or simply come and we’ll place you on a team to face questions on topics such as history, science, pop culture, world geography, and music. Compete for prizes and see who among us is the next James Holzhauer. (Not familiar with that name? Just google him.) * The Fajitas Factory food truck will be at the pool this night.*

Fourth of July BBQ and Games: Thursday, July 4th at 12 noon

It’s THE party of the season and an NCCSPA tradition. We’ll supply the burgers (beef and veggie), hot dogs and fixings and an afternoon of fun-filled activities for all ages. From sack races to the coin toss to the belly flop contest, and of course the highly competitive “family” raft race, you will not want to miss the festivities.  Stay tuned for the volunteer sign up!

Adult Trivia Night #2:  Saturday, July 13 at 7:30pm

On our member survey, you told us you wanted another Adult Trivia night. We heard you! Join us for Adult Trivia Night #2! Show up with your own 5-6 person trivia team or simply come and we’ll place you on a team to face questions ranging from history, science, pop culture, world geography, and music. Compete for prizes and see who among us is the next James Holzhauer (Not familiar with that name? Just google him). * The Roaming Coyote food truck with be at the pool this night.*

Sunday Sundae Party to Welcome Second Half Members: Sunday, July 14th 7:00pm

Let’s roll out the red carpet our new members who bring a fresh wave of energy and enthusiasm to the pool. Bring your own dinner and we will treat new and old members to an impressive sundae bar—an NCCSPA trademark.  This event is always a big hit – don’t miss it!

 Swim and Dive Banquet (All Members Able to Purchase Tickets: Saturday, July 2oth (more details to come)

The pool grounds and pavilion are transformed for this special themed evening celebrating the end of the season for our hard-working swimmers and divers. The pool remains open but anyone wishing to enjoy dinner and activities must purchase tickets in advance.

 Summer Book Club Dessert and Discussion: Tuesday, July 23rd 7:30pm

Crab Feast:  Saturday, August 24th 6:30pm  (tentative date)

Whether you sign up to purchase crabs or come with your own dinner, this “best of summer” event will make you happy to be a NCCSPA member. Enjoy fresh steamed crab straight from the bay! More details to come!

 Doggy Dip: Monday, September 2nd (Labor Day) 7:00pm

To the pounding beat of “Who Let the Dogs Out,” friendly dogs are invited for the last swim of the season!
